Presidents Report Round Two 2018

Published Sun 15 Apr 2018

North Fremantle Continue to SIZZLE in Round 2, with all six sides winning and posting great early season percentages!  In total all sides combined, amassed 654 points - a score the Australian Cricket team would love. Thoroughly deserved wins after a long preseason. The tone of the day was set by our Drew Banfield Colts, away against Hamersley Carine.  From the outset, the lads established their superiority against an undermanned opposition.  There was no relenting as the game went on with North continuing to pile on the goals.  It was a very clinical and highly skilled team performance which saw North register a huge win:  18.12 (119) to Hamersley Carine 1.4 (10).  Congratulations lads on a great win.  The momentum continued with the B Reserves imposing their skills and organisation against Hamersley Carine.  Though the opposition kept working hard, the game never in doubt, as North displayed a superior brand of football and skills, running out comfortable winners: 10.13 (73) to Hammersley Carine 3.3 (21).  The away round produced what many say was the best game North's League team has played under Woey's guidance.  From the outset, North applied constant and relentless pressure against an opponent who despite trying all day, was clearly outclassed.  The game was a wonderful spectacle if you were a North supporter.  The movement of the ball, skills and sheer desire for the ball and the win was a sight to be seen.  The lads have certainly stepped up a couple of notches.  Ultimately North powered to a large win:  26.11 (167) to Hammersley Caring 4.3 (27).  Congratulations all involved with the League team!

At home, North also finished the day with 3 wins.  The tone for the day was set by the D Reserves.  This was the closest game of the day.  The pressure was intense throughout and Mt Lawley showed they had come to play.  However, a faster and better organised North were irresolute to bring up their first victory for the season.  The early stages of the game was an arm wrestle, but the longer the game went on, the more North exhibited their superiority, ultimately taking control.  The lads had a well deserved win:  12.7 (79) to Mt Lawley 6.3 (45).  Congratulations to the team and to Vosty and Shuey on their maiden coaching victory!  The D1 League continued the momentum, bouncing out of the blocks early and immediately asserting their authority over Mt Lawley.  It was a powerful display of strength, skills and good organisation, with players scoring freely in the forward line, while being tight and miserly in the backline, limiting the opposition from scoring.  In the end North ran out big winners:  21.16 (142) to Mt Lawley 1.4 (10).  Congratulations to all involved!  The day only got better with our Brett Jones Colts taking on Scarborough, under lights.  The early stages of the game were enthralling, with both sides fighting hard for the ball and a win.  Eventually however, through sticking o their game plan and greater capacity to control the ball, North were able gain ascendancy and pull away form their opponents for another great win:  10.14 (74) to Scarborough 1.3 (9).  Congratulations lads abd all concerned.

Perhaps the highlight of the day was Adam 'Scooby' Vost playing his 300th game for North, with a career spanning two decades.  In that time Adam has played in every Grade and team at North, winning premierships, being a captain and also was selected as a WAAFL State Colts and Seniors player.  Scooby is a true Club champion and we at North, congratulate him and acknowledge his enormous contribution to the Club!  To top if off, Scooby booted four goals on the day!!
