PRESIDENTS REPORT: Round Twelve

Published Sat 01 Jul 2017

The weather may have been atrocious but that didn't stop the Club to bounce back and register five out of six wins!!  Well done to everyone!  Our top sides were at Collegians and the League were hungry to reverse their effort the week before.  Collegians still bounced out of the blocks in the first quarter and quickly went to a 3-4 goal lead.  However North maintained their resolve and effective implementation of game strategies to gradually take control and erode the lead.  The further the game went, the better North.  In what was one of the side's best performances, North pushed on to a well deserved three goal win:  7 - 10 (52) to 5 - 5 (35).  It was a very good team effort that maintained top position!  Congratulations to all!  In what were the worst conditions of the day, the Reserves played as if it was fine and returned to the winning board, dismissing the unexpected and unacceptable loss from the week before.  Theirs was a dominant perofrmance from the outset and continued to do so as the match wore on, winning by oer ten goals:  10 - 16 (76) to 0 - 2 (2).  It was a comprehensive team effort!  Well done lads!

The Drew Banfield Colts were somewhat hamstrung with so many omissions.  However, they fought on hard against a very good Collegians team, focused on victory.  Ultimately our lads found it difficult to swing into their game style bein.gf somewhat undermanned in such challenging conditions.  However nothing can be taken away from their opponents and North were well beaten on a tough day at the office:  3 - 1 (19) to 5 - 8 (38).  Make up for it next match boys!

The D2's and Brett Jones Colts were at home playing Kingsley and Collegians respectively.  The Brett Jones kicked off the day just as the weather set in and had a good early tussle with Collegians.  However the latter were prevailing through fewer errors and looked like winning the game from half time on.  The less said about the result the better, as the match was awarded to North on forfeit.  This does help the lads consolidate their top five position.

The D2 Fourths also copped the brunt of the weather in a hard slogging game where it looked like just a few goals would win it.  North were steadier and made fewer errors as they worked hard, together as a team on a mission, to establish a lead. Ultimately the hard work paid of in a painstaking match which North won: 4 - 17 (41) to 0 - 1 (1).  The D2 Reserves (Thirds) took on from where the Fourths finished,  bludgeoning their way to a deserved lead.  It was a complete team effort where once again, a few goals would win it.  The lads knuckled to the task and their game plan and remained focused on the goal at hand despite a few altercations in trying conditions.  North's resolve was rewarded with a good victory:  4 - 10 (34) to 0 - 4 (4).  The D2's both continue to consolidate their positions at the top of their ladders!  Keep it up lads!!
