NFAFC Win five out of six again in Round 3! On a fine, fantastic autumn day North shone once again, winning five out of six matches for the round. Only the Drew Banfield Colts were defeated. Plus, contrary to what the WAAFL web site and Sunday Times results showing North as losers to Whitfords in the League clash, the correct result was directly opposite - North won comfortably! North teams played away at Whitfords, with the League putting on another skilled and quality display of good football. The back line is proving to be tight, miserly and playing as a close knit unit, making it difficult for opponents to score. The forward line is also proving to be a cohesive group, with great teamwork and multiple scorers. Supported by a highly skilled and quick midfield, North is steadily developing into a complete unit and no doubt will continue to do so as the season progresses. The final result was reflective of the side's efforts and dominance on the day: NFAFC 14.7 (91) to Whitfords 3.5 (23). The B Reserves were just as impressive, taking the game by the neck from the outset. Again, their ball usage, passion and cohesiveness as a team proved too much for the home side, running out winners: 16.8 (104) to Whitfords 4.6 (30). In contrast the Drew Banfield Colts just were not on song for the day. They just did not have the same cohesion, nor consistency to match the challenge thrown at them by Whitfords. Despite being on top of the ladder the performance on the day fell way short of what it should have been, with North losing: 3.5 (23) to Whitfords 12.14 (86). However, next week is a new game and an opportunity to turn things around! Well done to all winning teams and coaches!
The Brett Jones Colts commenced the home games at At Gil Fraser Oval on a positive note, with a win against Wanneroo. However, it must be said the game did not rise to any great heights and was marred by errors, scrambles and inaccuracy, throughout. With a few 'measured words' at the half time break, master coach 'Snake Nelson' fired the lads up who certainly responded positively, with greater effort and urgency to secure a win! The game quality lifted somewhat and North went on ito dominate the second half, winning: 9.15 (69) to Wanneroo 3.7 (25). The D1 Reserves followed on from the Colts victory, but with greater precision and clean handling. It was evident from the outset that North were pretty much dominant across the field and we were in for a high scoring game! There were many highlights and nod doubt the biggest was 'Big Corey's' ten big goals!! North ran out ultimate winners: 24.16 (160) to Whitfords 1.4 (10). The D League was no different, asserting their control early and playing as a cohesive and tight unit. Great skills and rapid ball movement were on display by a passionate team seeking victory. The end result saw North winning: 20.6 (126) to Whitfords 3.4 (22). Congratulations to all teams and coaches!
Award presentations were held at The Federal, but only a small gathering of around 20 were in attendance, with many others attending the Dockers dissection of the Bulldogs at Optus Stadium. As a result we shall reschedule another awards presentation evening.
