Another successful weekend for North, winning five out of six games! The seniors continue to maintain their top of the table positions and Colts in the top five. We have three very big games ahead and need all our supporters to come along and urge our teams on, as we near the finals! The tone of the day at home was set by the Drew Banfield Colts who arguably put on their best performance of the year. They bounced out of the barriers with purpose and intent on one thing - a big win!! North played with skill, speed and a sweeping ball game that proved unstoppable for Collegians. Our lads' confidence was high as were their skills, decision making, connecting with teammates, precision and kicking at goal which ultimately saw them run out easy victors: 13.9 (87) to Collegians 1.6 (12). It really was a clinical overall team performance which no doubt also sets the tone for the remaining three games of the season. Well done lads & Mainy & assistants!! Keep it up!
The League encountered a more competitive contest against Maddington who's plan of manning up and use of bigger bodies created a good challenge for North, especially in the first half. It was a very good contest and North had to dig in deep to counter the strategy with their own game style. This they did in periods of the first two quarters, enough to maintain a lead heading into the last half of the game. It was in this period that North demonstrated superiority with slick ball movement, dogged and brutal ball contests, accurate connecting up with teammates and precise skills and speed. Maddington were unable to counter the change in the second half. North kicked further ahead as the game progressed, winning: 16.6 (102) to 9.9 (63). It was a good game and certainly a reminder of what will be needed for the remaining three games! Congratulations lads on a well earned win and to Woey and Staff!
The Reserves however asserted their dominance early against Maddington and were far too skilled and well drilled! North showed their intent form the outset and the longer the game progressed, the further North kicked away. Maddington didn't stop trying all day and are to be congratulated. However they were unable to make inroads against North who ran out easy winners: 19.9 (123) to 3.3 (21).
Our D2's travelled to Wanneroo for late games. The Fourths kicked of at 3.30pm and comfortably bounced away to an ominous lead which looked like exploding. The lads were on song and that is exactly what happened with North continuing to trouble the scoreboard attendants and Wanneroo unable to counter. North were more skilled in a whole team performance which delivered a well deserved victory: 16.11 (107) to 3.0 (18)..Well done lads and Trent and helpers! The Thirds however had a much closer contest a second placed Wanneroo. It was a good challenge for both teams, but North's skills and drills were superior and underlined the fact why they were clear top of the ladder. North was dominant throughout and ran out deserved winners: 8.11 (59) to 5.2 (32). Congratulations to the team and Clint and helpers!
Once again, our Brett Jones Colts were away on their own at UWA Sports Park, taking on the competition table leader, University. While our lads tried gallantly all day, the class and strength of the University team proved too strong. Defeating any UWA team is always a huge challenge. However Heath and the lads persevered and stuck it out to the end, for which they should be congratulated. Next week is another game and an opportunity to make amends against University Curtin.
