The highlight of the day was the League's clinical victory over Swan Athletic. The lads were out of the box as soon as the first ball was bounced! Their intensity, vigour and ball control was perhaps the best for the season. In an inspirational first quarter, North blew the opposition away, with little resistance. By half time the game was virtually over, with North going into their change rooms with a lead of well over 60 points. The third quarter was a replay as North continued to stretch the lead. Only in the final quarter did Swan Athletic manage to pile on a few goals, but the result was already beyond doubt, winning handsomely: North 19 - 15 (129) to Swan Athletic 8-4 (52). Congratulations to the boys, who have now, after four years of planning and Woey's crafting of their skills and game strategies, returned the Club to A Grade! Needless to say spirits were high afterwards as the League belted out our Maggie song, like never before and the hundreds of supporters who swelled the Stan Whipp Hall wallowed in the euphoric jubilation!! Including the President!
A fantastic achievement for our League to earn promotion and now move to the Grand Final at East Fremantle Oval next Saturday 8th September!! Get behind them and urge them on to a Premiership Flag!! The B reserves had a much tougher battle with Whitford! The game was an absolute thriller with the lead changing throughout. It was a matter of which team would prove the steadiest and make the least number of errors, to win the game. Our lads fought hard against a worthy opposition. The game was still in doubt with a minute or so to go and North a point up! They held their nerve and resolve to ensure no errors, where as Whitford didn't in final few seconds. North clung on to the barest margin as the final siren rang. Needless to say their joy was pure elation, winning such a close battle: North 9.6 (60) Whitford 9.5 (59) - but also winning the right to play in the Grand Final at East Fremantle Oval next week, 8 September!! Get behind them and urge them on to a Premiership Flag!!
