The North Fremantle Amateur Football Club, the City of Fremantle, the RSL and the North Fremantle Community will once again conduct the annual ANZAC Ceremony at the site of the Fallen Soldier Memorial on Harvest Road North Fremantle. All players, officials and members and families are invited to attend. The ANZAC Day service is at the corner of Stirling Highway and Harvest Road at 9am Wednesday, April 25. North Fremantle Football Club lost 12 players in World War I with a further 31 wounded, or incapacitated. This year the school children from the North Fremantle Primary School will give a short presentation on one of those footballers, William Arnold Spencer Thomas who was killed in the Anzac Day attack at Villers-Bretonneux in 1918.
Our club President, Tony Misich AOM, will be Master of Ceremonies for the 30 minute service which will be attended by the Mayor of Fremantle, Dr Brad Pettitt, the Federal Member for Fremantle, Mr Josh Wilson, the State Member for Fremantle Simone McGurk, the State Member for Cottesloe, Mr David Honey, other State Members of Parliament, including club member, Lisa O'Malley, local government Councillors, representatives of the Fremantle and Bicton-Palmyra Returned and Services League and other dignitaries.
Our Colts have been an important part of the ceremony each year in honouring the 12 footballers who died at Gallipoli and on The Western Front carrying the club jumpers in their names. Club registrar, Robert Looby, will lay a wreath on behalf of the North Fremantle Amateur Football Club.
